In the heart of the Loire Valley, the Louis de Grenellle House develops fine sparkling wines: Cremant de Loire, Saumur Rose and Saumur Brut. Established in 1859 (the same year Charles Darwin released his Origin of Species book!), it remains the last independent and family owned sparkling wine house!
While the Louis de Grenelle family winery draws from 21st century values of consistent production and dynamic commercial marketing, tradition values still apply in creating an authentic vintage.
With that constant guiding force, the Cellar Master assembles with great care and subtlety three noble types of vines, Chenin, Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc. In this way the products have been nurtured for one and a half centuries in the silence and darkness of the limestone caves.
Located near Saumur, the vineyard of the Château de la Durandière is concentrated inside and around the walls of the Château. The vineyard of 38 hectares is planted with Chenin, Chardonnay and Cabernet Franc grapes.
Always at the top of technology and to improve quality, the air-conditioned wine warehouse is equipped with a pneumatic press and stainless steel vats, just some of the state of the art equipment used to create their brilliant and delicious wines.
Louis de Grenelle uses its ancestral wine making techniques but always uses any advances of technology, oenology and new science at the forefront of its wine making.
